Fred S. Engle Middle School
Guidance Department
The Engle Middle School Counseling Department is committed to helping students attain their full academic potential, and foster responsible independence. Counseling is geared to helping students, teachers and parents have a successful middle school experience.
Counseling services are available to all of our middle school students. They are encouraged to see their guidance counselor any time during the school day. Students should obtain a pass from their teacher before coming to the guidance office. Parents can contact their child’s guidance counselor any time during the school day by phone or email.
Students are assigned to one of three school counselors based on the first letter of their last name. They will remain with that counselor throughout their tenure here. To find out more information regarding the counselors, please click on Meet the School Counselors.
Some services that are provided by the school counselor include:
- individual and small group counseling
- new student scheduling
- monitoring student academic progress
- crisis counseling
- help students develop coping skills to deal with social and emotional pressures
- conflict resoution
- attend weekly academic team meetings
- transitioning activities to and from the Middle School
Confidentiality: An important component of the counseling relationship is the understanding of confidentiality. Counselors are obligated both ethically and legally to maintain the confidentiality of information they receive from a student within the context of a counseling setting. Information shared by the student may only be disclosed to protect the student or others from harm.
